Nobel Prize winner Jose Saramago dies
+ 16 November 1922 – 18 June 2010
We at CAA would like to join all literature lovers and José Saramago's admirers to mourn the death of this great Portuguese writer.
José Saramago is the only author writing in Portuguese to win the Nobel Prize for literature. He was awarded this prize in 1998.
Saramago was born in Azinhaga, near Lisbon, in 1922, but lived on Lanzarote, Canary Islands, from 1992 until his death in 2010 with his second wife, the journalist Pilar del Rio.
He is survived by his first wife,Ilda Reis, his daughter Violante, his second wife, Pilar del Rio and 2 grandchildren.
RIP Saramago.

End of School Year Dinner - Adult Group
Last Thursday (17/6)Helen, Alex, Esther, Catia and a group of adult students met at Casa Mia - an Italian restaurant in Vila Real - to celebrate the end of the school year. It was a fun evening and Helen and Esther got tipsy. Not used to Italian wine.

Staff News
Lots of wonderful news this summer:
1. Our teacher in Vila Real, Alexandra Vilela, will be having her first baby in August: a baby boy who will be named David, a nice bilingual name. We offered her a baby shower on 10 June and baby David got a lot of nice welcoming gifts.
2. Our teacher in Chaves, Florence Valente has been accepted by International House in Lisbon to do the CELTA Course and her course will take place in August. Congratulations, Florence!
It should be an intensive summer month for her. Our support goes to you. Good luck, Florence!
3. Our teacher in Vila Real, Ester Hadar, has been accepted by International House in Porto to do the CELTYL in July. Congratulations, Ester! Your have our moral support. Good luck!
4. Finally, our secretary in Vila Real, Cátia Matos, and her fiancé Ricardo will be getting married in October in Vila Real. Our best wishes to the happy couple! We will be there to help them celebrate :))
